Terrorist Blast in Baghdad Shia Mosque

9:23 - June 23, 2013
News ID: 2550863
A suicide bomber on Saturday evening blew up himself in a Shia mosque north of Baghdad, Iraq’s capital city.
According to a report by Al-Haq.net, the blast left 15 worshippers dead and 30 others wounded.
It took place at Al-Rahman Mosque, in the city of Taji, 30 kilometers north of Baghdad.
No one has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, though it is typical of Al-Qaeda’s Iraq branch and other radical Sunni groups to target Shia Muslims.
Despite a reduction in the rate of violence compared to its peak in the years 2006 and 2007, Iraq has been the scene of renewed violence in recent months.
