Hezbollah Condemns Assassination of Egyptian Shia Cleric
Lebanon’s Hezbollah Resistance Movement condemned the assassination of Egyptian Shia scholar Sheikh Hassan Shahata.
Issuing a statement, Hezbollah denounced the killing of the Sheikh and a number of other Shia Muslims in Abu Muslim Village, Al-Giza province, Al-Minar news network reported.
A group of Takfiri extremists attacked the house of the Shia cleric on Sunday. The cleric and three of his followers were murdered after the house was surrounded by hundreds of people vowing to kill them for being Shias.Their bodies were then dragged into the street by Takfiri extremists.
Hezbollah underlined that the Egyptian nation with its culture of equality and moderation will not condone this heinous crime.
The Lebanese groups warned against the spread of Takfiri ideas that has targeted the Arab Ummah , regretting that some countries, institutions and figures support Takfiri ideas in line with their ominous plots.
Hezbollah called on Egyptian officials to take necessary measures to bring all the perpetrators to justice and urged the Egyptian society to stand up against radicalism and extremism.
In a separate statement, Hezbollah also censured attacks by Al-Asir group on the people and Lebanese army in Sidon.
In these attacks, 15 members of the Lebanese army were killed and over 100 others were wounded.
