Host Country’s Reciter Wins Quran Competition in Africa

Representative of Ivory Coast came first in an international Quran competition held in Africa.
The 8th edition of the contest organized for West African countries wrapped up on Saturday, July 13, in Abidjan, capital of Ivory Coast, apanews website reported.
Representatives of Benin, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Niger and Ivory Coast took part in the international Quranic event.
The Islamic Committee of Ivory Coast organized the competition at Salam Mosque in Abidjan with the aim of encouraging the youth in the continent to learn and get acquainted with the Quran.
At the closing ceremony, Bah Aboubacar from the host country received the top prize, while representatives of Mali, Guinea, Benin, Ghana and Niger cam second to sixth, respectively.
A number of Quranic figures and officials from other countries such as Saudi Arabia and Morocco attended the closing ceremony.
