Algeria Holds Quran, Hadith Memorization Contest

A Quran and Hadith memorization competition begins today in the city of Boumerdes in Algeria.
According to a report by elmoudjahid website, 200 children and teenagers will take part in the competition named “Noor Quran” (the light of the Quran).
This will be the 5th edition of the contest, Rabah Bulabbas, an organizing official, said in a press conference.
He said the competition is held in the categories of memorization of the Quran and memorization of Hadiths for children and teenagers aged between 6 to 16 years.
Algeria’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry organizes the event in cooperation with the Cultural-Islamic Center of Boumerdes as part of the special programs for Ramadan 2013.
The competition will conclude next week in a ceremony where winners will receive their awards.
