Mourning Ceremonies Planned on Anniversary of Imam Sadeq’s (AS) Martyrdom

On the anniversary of Imam Sadeq’s (AS) martyrdom, morning ceremonies will be held in the mosques in Tehran that have the name or one of the titles of the 6th Imam (AS).
Tehran Municipality’s Center for Religious Activities announced that the ceremonies include elegy recitations, religious speeches, and mourning rituals.
Some of the prayer halls, parks and organizations in the city will also host special programs on the sad occasion.
The programs are aimed at promoting religious and Islamic values and highlighting the role of the Seerah of the Infallibles (AS) in elevating the Islamic lifestyle.
Monday, September 2, concurrent with the 25th day of Shawwal on the Hijri lunar calendar, marks the anniversary of Imam Sadeq’s (AS) martyrdom.
On the 25th Shawwal 148 Hijri, the governor of Medina by the order of the Abbasid Caliph al-Mansur, got the Infallible Imam (AS) martyred through poison.
