Afghanistan’s Hajj and Religious Affairs Ministry officials said the first batch of Afghan Hajj pilgrims left the country on Sunday, September 8.
According to IQNA’s West Asia branch, they said a total of 24000 Afghan pilgrims go to Saudi Arabia for Hajj this year.
Afghanistan’s Hajj and Religious Affairs Minister Dai-ul-Haq Abid said the first batch of Hajjis that left Afghanistan included 220 pilgrims.
He said four more flights will take several other batches of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia on Monday, September 9.
According to the official, the pilgrims will take flights from Kabul, Mazar Sharif (two flights) and Heart.
He added that preparations have been made to prevent problems like the ones Afghan Hajjis faced in the previous year’s Hajj.
Hajj is the largest annual pilgrimage in the world. It is obligatory at least once in lifetime for all able-bodied Muslims who can afford it.
