The bomb went off in the city’s industrial center on Sunday, September 15, Al-Sumariya News website reported.
But this was not the only deadly explosion in the country on Sunday. According to reports, two car bombs exploded in the city of Nasriyia, south of Iraq.
There was another car bomb attack on Sunday in Waziriya district north of Baghdad which left one person dead and 4 injured.
The number of casualties in a separate terrorist attack near the northern city of Mosul was as high as 27. The terrorists targeted a mourning ceremony in a village near Mosul.
The attacks came a day after at least 26 people lost their lives and 45 others sustained injuries in a bomb attack in Iraq’s northern province of Nineveh.
On Friday, 30 people were killed in two bomb explosions near a mosque in the northern city of Baquba.
Violence has surged across Iraq in recent months, reaching its highest level since 2008.
