In a meeting between Iranian and Saudi Hajj officials, it was agreed that the Iranian Umrah Hajj quota rise by 50 percent.
The meeting between Saeed Ohadi, deputy culture minister and head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs Organization, and Bandar Bin Hijaz, Saudi Minister of Hajj was held on Tuesday, October 1 in Jeddah.
It was agreed by the two sides that 750,000 Iranians go on Umrah pilgrimage in the coming Umrah season, showing a 50-percent rise in Iran’s quota.
Unlike Hajj, which is obligatory for every able-bodied Muslim who can afford it, Umrah or Minor Hajj is not obligatory.
According to Mr. Ohadi, the Saudi side praised the Iranian Hajj pilgrims for their orderly conduct and discipline during Hajj rituals and their sideline program.
He noted that the Saudi Hajj minister has ordered the Hajj ministry officials to make sure there will be no shortcoming in services provided to Iranian pilgrims.
Ohadi said during the meeting, he conveyed the message of Iranian Culture Minister Ali Jannati to the Saudi minister in which Jannati has invited Bandar Bin Hijaz to visit Iran.
