Iran, Tunisia Universities Sign Cooperation Agreement

TEHRAN (IQNA) - During the first session of a series of meetings planned for representatives of leading universities of the Muslim world, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between Tunisia's University of Al-Zaytoonah and the Iranian University of Islamic Sects.


The session was organized and hosted by the Iranian university on December 27.

It was attended by Chancellor of Al-Zaytoonah University, as well as officials from six Iranian universities and academic centers including the University of Qom, University of Religions and Denominations, Al-Mustafa International University, University of Quranic Sciences, Hawza and University Research Center and Research Center of Islamic Sciences and Thought.

The participants discussed important issues in the Muslim world such as the approaches to be taken to stop extremism and Takfiri movements.

The memorandum includes seven chapters and 30 articles covering various fields of education, research, teacher and student exchanges, and joint activities to fight religious extremist and Takfiris.

Tunisian University of Al-Zaytoonah is one of the oldest Islamic and Arab universities founded in 116 AH (734 AD). Having various religious, theological, historical, civilization and Islamic research centers, Al-Zaytoonah is considered as one of the most important universities in the Islamic world.
