TEHRAN (IQNA) - Once again, an anti-Islam organization has bought ads on San Francisco buses, this time comparing Islam to Nazis.

An Islamophobic group has bought ads on San Francisco city buses that show pictures of Adolf Hitler and compare the religion of Islam to Nazis.

The insulting ads began to appear on Jan. 9, just days after the massacre in France, where attacks on the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and a supermarket killed 17 people.

The Southern Poverty Law Center lists the AFDI as a hate group.

Spokesperson for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Paul Rose said in a statement, "... the First Amendment protects freedom of speech, including speech that is considered offensive … Refusing placement would almost certainly result in a lawsuit that forces the city to run the ads under court order, and we believe taxpayer dollars should be used to improve transit and the overall transportation network; not on lawsuits."

City leaders condemned these ads and the municipal bus system donated the money from the ads to human rights organizations.
