Speaking to IQNA, Seyed Qassem Numan Ahmed Al-Hulv added that the youth should learn about Takfiris and benefit from Quranic teachings to confront Takfiri ideologies.
He said the true image of Islam which is based on kindness, tolerance, compassion and good deeds should be promoted in order to show that Takfiri groups’ actions have nothing to do with this religion.
There is a need to spread the culture of monotheism and compassion that the Holy Quran puts emphasis on, he stated.
Al-Hulv, who is the director of Quran and Nahj-ul-Balaqa Institute and president of the Quran Cultural Society in the holy city of Najaf, further said one of the main missions of Quran institutes is to make efforts to foster the teachings of the Quran in society.
Learning Quran memorization and recitation is important in Muslim societies, he said. “But what should be given more attention is reflection on the Quran and acting upon its teachings and concepts.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iraqi Quran activist referred to the use of new technologies in Quranic education as effective and said new technologies are helpful in promoting Quranic education among the youth and enhancing the Quranic culture in society.
Asked about the activities of the Quran Cultural Society in Najaf, al-Hulv said it organizes various Quran teaching courses at different levels and holds meetings where managers of Quran institutes discuss ways for improving Quran teaching methods.
