A total of 274 contestants from 23 Indian states had qualified for this unique competition organized every three years since 1994. A total of 3148 contestants from 1400 Madaris had participated in the qualifying rounds held in 26 states.
On the occasion of this three-day Holy Quran contest, Jamia Islamiya College of Engineering and Polytechnic building has been named as 'Wadi-e-Quran', and the entire Jamia Akkalkuwa campus has been decorated.
The contest is slated to conclude Sunday with a prize distribution ceremony.
The Judges for this contest are: Sheikh Moosa Bilal Maniyar Makki, Sheikh Talha Bilal Maniyar Makki and Qari Riyaz Ahmed Mazahri of Nadwatul Ulema.
Earlier, while inaugurating the contest, Rector of Jamia Akkalkuwa Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi said that the secret of success for Muslims is actually 'no secret'.
"It is unity and the Quran which will lead the Muslims to success", he said in his inaugural address.
