The Lyon-based Coalition against Racism and Islamophobia (CRI) will organize the rally on Saturday, March 14, islam-france.org reported.
In a statement, CRI referred to the spread of anti-Islamic actions in the wake of Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris and urged people to participate in Saturday’s rally to confront the wave of Islamophobia.
It said the demonstrators will also voice their protest to the March 15, 2004, law that banned Hijab in French schools.
Reports show that discrimination and violence against Muslims have significantly increased in the months following the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks.
On January 7, two gunmen attacked Charlie Hebdo’s Paris offices, killing 12 people. The al-Qaeda branch in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack.
