Ehsan Muhammad al-Arizi, an Iraqi scholar and political analyst, made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that Riyadh has turned into a US mercenary.
He said Washington and the Zionist regime seek to fan the flames of conflict and insecurity in the region.
He noted, though, that Riyadh itself pursues a long-term agenda in the Middle East and has launched the aggression with US support to materialize its objectives.
The Iraqi political analyst described the war on Yemen as a foolish measure that could give rise to difficult challenges in the region whose consequences will affect Saudi Arabia more than any other country.
Al-Arizi referred to the Saudi government as the main loser in the Yemeni crisis as the vast majority of Yemeni people, even Sunnis, have stood up against the Saudi aggression.
He hailed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s role in the region as constructive and said Tehran seeks a Middle East free from insecurity and conflicts.
Elsewhere in his remarks, al-Arizi criticized the Arab League for its role in paving the way for the strikes on Yemen.
Saudi Arabia and its allies started their air campaign against Yemen on March 26 without a UN mandate.
The Saudi-led coalition, including military forces from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Sudan, Bahrain, Morocco, Jordan, and Egypt began to attack Yemen's Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
The airstrikes have killed more than 800 Yemeni people and injured more than 1,200 others so far.
