Addressing worshipers on Friday at Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque in Manama, Sheikh Khalid Fadhil al-Zaki added that the Bahraini people will not retreat from their ideals and demands, al-Manar TV reported.
He stressed that the Al Khalifa regime is incapable of silencing the voice of revolution.
“If the policy of repression were to be effective, the people of Bahrain would have relinquished their revolution long ago,” Sheikh al-Zaki added.
He further slammed the regime’s crackdown on people’s peaceful demonstrations and criticized the parliament for not taking any steps towards real reforms.
Bahrain has been the scene of almost daily protests against the Al Khalifa dynasty since early 2011 when a pro-democracy uprising began in the kingdom.
Since mid-February 2011, thousands of pro-democracy protesters have held numerous rallies in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al Khalifa royal family to relinquish power.
Bahrain has been severely criticized by human rights groups for its harsh crackdown on anti-government protesters, which has claimed the lives of scores of people so far.
