Islamic Unity, Main Requirement for Confronting Takfirism
Speaking at an Iftar ceremony in Maroub region in Lebanon, Sayyed Ali Fadlallah added that Muslim unity is necessary for tackling the ominous phenomenon of Takfir.
He urged Muslims world over to be vigilant against the seditious acts of Takfiri groups.
The cleric stressed that the crimes committed by ISIL terrorist group in countries like Iraq, Syria, Tunisia, Libya, Kuwait and France shows that the phenomenon of Takfir poses threats to the whole world.
Fadlallah further said Lebanon is facing threats from two sides: the Zionist regime and Takfiri groups.
Takfir refers to the practice of excommunication, declaring a Muslim to be an apostate (an unbeliever or kafir).
Takfiri groups like ISIL, who consider anyone but themselves to be Kafir, have caused a lot of trouble in the Middle East and elsewhere in recent years.
The ISIL Takfiri group, believed to be supported by the West and some regional Arab countries, is in control of parts of Iraq and Syria.
The ISIL members have been committing heinous crimes in the areas they control, including the mass execution of civilians.
On Friday, June 26, the militant group made headlines for its barbarity once again after it carried out terrorist attacks in Kuwait, Tunisia and France.
