The competition’s arbitration committee selected Saudi Arabia’s representative as the winner of the first rank in this category.
The Quran memorizer from the US was the runner up and the Bangladeshi representative came third.
This is while the name of Iran’s representative Mohammad Hossein Behzadfar, who had an excellent performance and correctly answered all the questions of the arbitration committee, was not even among the top ten winners.
Behzadfar, however, came third in the best voice (or most beautiful recitation) category, whose winners had been announced earlier.
The three top winners in the main (memorization) category received cash prizes of 250,000, 150,000 and 100,000 UAE Dirhams, respectively, while those coming fourth to tenth were awarded 30,000 Emirati Dirhams each.
The 19th Dubai International Holy Quran Award had begun on June 24 in the UAE city with the participation of Quran memorizers from some 76 countries.
The contest is annually held on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
