According to Al-Wasat website, Hussein Ali Al-Saqir, a regional official, said that the competition has been organized by Awqaf offices of the eastern cities of Libya.
60 Quran reciters and memorizers compete on memorization of the entire Quran, half and a quarter of the Quran and recitation of the verses while observing Tajweed principles.
Al-‘Ateeq Mosque in Tabruk is hosting the competition.
It was launched in a ceremony with the participation of Abdul Salam Al-Sharif, director of the Awqaf Office of Tobruk, Al-Naji Maziq, Mayor of the city, Abdul Nabi, member of the Parliament of Libya and a number of religious scholars and intellectuals of the region.
The competition's board of judges comprises five eminent Quran experts selected by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs under the supervision of the General Office of the Holy Quran and Nabawi Sunnah of the ministry.
