Kuwait's 19th Int'l Quran Competition Kicks Off

TEHRAN (IQNA) - The 19th International Quran Competition of Kuwait kicked off on Monday.

The country's General Secretariat of Awqaf said in a press release the competition aims to establish Islamic values in society, to encourage people to memorize and recite the holy Quran and to support those who contribute to achieving these aims.


Deputy Secretary General of the Kuwaiti General Secretariat of Awqaf and Head of the Preparatory Committee Mohammad Al-Jalahma stated that this competition is promoted by a media campaign to encourage citizens' participation.


Meanwhile, he added that the competition's prizes start from KD 6,000 for the first place, KD 5,000 for the second place, KD 4,000 for the third place and KD 3,000 for the fourth place.


Head of Waqf Fund and General Coordinator Mesaad Al-Rakhees pointed out that the registration for the competition will end on Saturday, September 26.
