Saleh At’harifard, the head of the delegation, told IQNA that there is still no news of what happened to the five Quran activists.
He said three of them are internationally known Quran reciters and the other two are members of Baqir al-Olum Tawasheeh (religious songs) group.
At’harifard noted that another Iranian Hajji who had gone missing after the incident has been found in one of Makkah hospitals and this has raised hopes that those missing are alive.
More than 1300 pilgrims, including 131 Iranians, died and many more injured in the stampede outside the holy city of Makkah in the worst disaster to strike the annual Hajj pilgrimage in a quarter century.
It came nearly two weeks after tens of Hajj pilgrims were killed in another tragic event in Makkah.
On September 11, a massive construction crane crashed into Makkah’s Grand Mosque in stormy weather, killing at least 107 people and injuring 201 others.
