According to Qaf news agency, the Ministry of Youth and Sport in the province has organized the competition in cooperation with the Center for Supporting The Youth affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine.

Natiq Najm Al-Zarkani, head of the Quran Activists Association of the province, said that "Quran, the Light of Hearts” is the motto of the first edition of the three-day competition.
He added that the Quranic event is the beginning of cooperation between the ministry and the association aiming to develop Quranic activities in the region.
Quran reciters and memorizers from 12 provinces of the country, including, Wasit, Najaf, Karbala, Babil, Basra, Diyala, Saladin, Maysan, Muthanna, Baghdad, Dhi Qar and Qadisiya, have participated in the first edition of the competition.
Natiq Abdullah Al-Waeli, is the head of the competition’s judging board and Ala Abdullah Khalaf Al-Waeli, Muhammadreza, Ahmad Amer and Hassan Aziz are the Quran experts who respectively supervise the competition in the categories of Tajweed, Lahn, Sowt and Waqf and Ibtida.
Sa’eed bin Jubayr (665–714), also known as Abu Muhammad, was originally from Kufa, Iraq. He was regarded as one of the leading members of the Tabi’in (d. ca. 712). Sa’eed is held in the highest esteem by scholars of the Shi’a and Sunni Islamic traditions and was considered one of the leading jurists of the time.
