TEHRAN (IQNA) - The Kedah government in Malaysia has urged the Mufti Department to act promptly by explaining to the people, especially the young, the threats posed by the Daesh terrorist group so that they will not be swayed by it.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir said this was because the group had used Quranic verses to dupe some Muslims into joining them.

"We are concerned about them influencing Muslims, especially the young, whose religious knowledge is as thin as onion skin.

"I consider this matter serious and do not want the influence to spread in our country, including Kedah.

"We must act quickly and I have asked the Mufti Department to respond to the Daesh threat," he said.

He was speaking to reporters after a working visit to Desa Keda (Kedah Regional Development Authority), at Wang Tepus.

Mukhriz said the local populace, especially in the villages, must also act quickly upon detecting the group's influence in their respective areas.
