TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 7th congress for honoring women Quran activists will be held concurrent with the 33rd international Quran competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Masoumeh Farzaneh, an adviser to Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, told IQNA that 21 Quran activists from Iran and other countries will be honored at the event.

She said some 450 women, including 150 from foreign 80 countries, had been introduced to the secretariat of the congress for the Quranic activities, from among whom 12 Iranian and 9 foreign women were selected to be honored at the event.

Farzaneh went on to say that the previous editions of the congress have helped create good interaction between women Quran activists of Iran and other Muslim world countries.

Iran’s 33rd international Quran competition will kick off in Tehran on Wednesday, May 11.

The contest, whose motto is "One Book, One Ummah”, will run until Tuesday, May 17.

75 countries from the five continents of the world will send 130 Quran memorizers and reciters to the contest.

The international Quranic event convenes Quran reciters and memorizers from around the Muslim world every year.
