Ceremonies to Mark Imam Zaman (AS) Birthday Anniversary

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The birthday anniversary of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his glad advent) will be celebrated from May 19 for five days by the Iranian Cultural centers in different countries.

According to the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), ICRO's General Office for the Cultural Affairs of Iranians Abroad plans to hold the ceremonies in cooperation with the Iranian cultural representatives in Turkey, Armenia, Russia, India, the Netherlands, France and Malaysia.

Introduction of Iranian-Islamic culture and art as well as the achievements of Iranian artists and their interaction with artists in other countries are among the objectives of the programs.

The ceremonies will continue until May 23.

The birthday anniversary of Imam Zaman (AS) falls on the 15th of Sha’ban in the lunar Hijri calendar. 

It is celebrated by Muslims, especially Shias, all over the world.

Imam Mahdi, according to Shia belief, was born on July 29, 869 CE (Sha’ban 15, 255 AH) in Samarra, Iraq.

This year, the 15th of Sha’ban in Islamic calendar falls on Sunday, May 22.
