TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quranic official with Iran’s Ministry of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare said there are plans for organizing an international Quran competition for workers.

Int’l Quran Competition for Workers on Agenda

Mehdi Rezaei told IQNA that the ministry’s Office for Cultural Activities has so far held 10 national Quran competitions for workers in the country.

The last one was hosted by the holy city of Mashhad in February with the participation of 400 workers, he noted.

"We are now setting the ground for holding an international Quran contest for workers in the Muslim world,” Rezaei added.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has put Quranic activities high on its agenda, among them holding Quran competitions at the regional, national and international levels.

Apart from the country’s International Holy Quran Competition, which is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, Iran has in recent years organized international Quran contests for the Muslim world’s university students, visually-impaired, and school students, among others.

These competitions are aimed at promoting the teachings and culture of the Holy Quran and enhancing unity and fraternity among Muslims from different countries.
