300 Memorizers, Reciters to Attend Tehran Province’s Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 29th Quran competition of Tehran province in Iran will kick off on Sunday here in the capital city.


More than 300 Qaris and memorizers will compete indifferent categories of recitation and memorization in two sections for men and women.

There are 167 contestants in the men’s section and 137 women will compete in the second section.

There are also two categories one featuring Adhan (call to prayers) and the other supplication recitation.

16 Quran experts will be the judges of the contest in different categories.

The Imamzadeh Abdullah religious site in Shahre Rey, south of Tehran, will host the Quranic event, which is organized annually by the province’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Department.

The competition will last for five days, according to the organizers.
