Student Quran Competition Begins in Cairo

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A competition on Quran memorization and Islamic culture has been organized for students of Cairo University.

According to Alwahda website, the Cultural Affairs Section affiliated to the university’s General Office for Supporting the Youth has organized the competition, which began on Sunday.

A number of students from different faculties of Cairo University have participated in the Quranic event, which will continue for 5 days.

The students compete in memorization of the entire Quran, memorization of 20, 15, 10 and 5 Juzes (parts) of the Quran along with observation of Tajweed principles and interpretation of the Quranic verses.

The Quran memorizers participating in the contest will also answer some questions on Islamic culture.

Cairo University is Egypt’s premier public university. It is the second oldest institution of higher education in Egypt after Al Azhar University.
