TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition was held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, on Saturday.

According to IRNA, the Towhid Hosseiniya (religious center) hosted the contest on the anniversary of the foundation of the city’s Holy Quran Assembly.

Iranian ambassador to the European country Hamid Moayyer and Hojat-ol-Islam Haeri Foumani, an advisor to the Iranian foreign minister were present at the event.

In a speech, Hojat-ol-Islam Haeri Foumani hoped that the Holy Quran Assembly will help to promote the Quranic culture, especially among Iranian nationals residing in Romania.

Romania is a country located in Southeastern Europe and is the seventh most populous member state of the European Union.

There are some 70,000 Muslims in Romania, making up less than one percent of the country’s total population.
