Nigeria Nat'l Quran Contest Kicks Off

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Centre for Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, in collaboration with the Kwara State Musabaqah Committee, is host the 31st edition of the National Quran Recitation Competition in Nigeria.


National Qur’an Recitation Competition Opens Today in Nigeria

The contest started Friday and will continue until Saturday, 11 February, 2017, in Ilorin.

According to a statement signed by the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee of the event, Justice Idris Haroon (retd), the competition, which will feature participants from about 30 states of Nigeria, will be held at the main auditorium of Al-Hikmah University.

Justice Haroon, who is a former Grand Khadi of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, said the closing ceremony, where laurels would be given to winners of the different categories of the competition, would be organized at the Metropolitan Square on February 11.

The LOC chairman appealed to the people of Kwara State to be hospitable to the participating states and be law abiding for a successful hosting of the competition.
