TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Shia mosque and Islamic school in Derbent, Russian Republic of Dagestan, organizes various programs for the city’s Muslims throughout the year.

Built in the first century Hijri (8th century AD), it is the only old Shia mosque in Dagestan.
The Republic of Dagestan is a federal subject of Russia, located in the North Caucasus region.
Its capital and largest city is Makhachkala.
The majority of the people of Dagestan, some 83 percent, are Muslim.
