TEHRAN (IQNA) – A recent survey by a number of religious researchers in Algeria shows the number of men teaching the Quran in the Arab country is dwindling.

According to Bawaba al-Shoruq website, it showed that Algerian women show much more interest in teaching the Quran than men.

Women are 80 percent more likely to take up Quran teaching as a career, the researchers said at a recent national seminar on running Quran education institutes.

Elsewhere, participants at the seminar stressed the need for abandoning Quran teaching methods that focus on memorization only and do not pay much attention to contemplating Quranic concepts.

Algeria is an Arab country in North Africa. Muslims make up about ninety-nine percent of the country’s population.
