Syrian Quran Researcher Dies in Abu Dhabi

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A prominent Syrian Quran researcher died in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

  

According to ajel.sa website, Muhammad Shahrour died at the age of 81.

His body will be buried in a family plot in Damascus.

Born in Damascus in 1938, Shahrour studied civil engineering at the University of Damascus and got a PhD from the University of Dublin in 1972.

He also started Quranic research in 1972 and wrote a number of books in the field.

They include an interpretation of the Quran titled “Book and Quran, A Contemporary Reading”.
