Iran’s Larijani to Attend Parliament Sessions after Coronavirus Recovery

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani will resume attending the sessions of the parliament soon after recovering from COVID-19, a lawmaker said.

 

Masoud Pezeshkian, the parliament’s vice-speaker, said Larijani is in good health and will be back in the parliament next week.

He noted that parliamentary sessions are held with full observation of health protocols and social distancing guidelines.

Earlier this month, Larijani tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

He was tested for coronavirus after showing certain symptoms, and as the result was positive, he was put in quarantine and underwent treatment.

Iran is the worst-hit state by the coronavirus spread in the Middle East.

On Monday, the health ministry announced that t the number of people tested positive for the coronavirus across Iran had risen to 73,303 following the detection of 1,617 new cases.

According to the ministry, 111 coronavirus patients died over the previous 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 4,585.

Nearly 46,000 coronavirus positive cases in the country have fully recovered from the disease.
