According to almalnews.com, Mohammad Othman Al-Khasht, president of the university, said that students willing to participate in the competition should submit a 3-minute video file of their Quran recitation by the 20th day of the holy month.
They can select any of the seven recitation styles to recite the Quran, he added.
The main objective of the program is to revive the noble and authentic schools of Quran recitation in Egypt, he said.
The first to the third rank winners will be respectively awarded 10000, 5000 and 3000 Egyptian Pounds, according to Al-Khasht.
He went on to say that the university aims to train a generation of Qaris who follow the path of Egypt’s pioneer Quran reciters including Mohammad Raf’at, Al-Husari, Al-Minshawi, Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Mustafa Ismail and Mahmoud Al-Khasht.
