Al-Azhar to Hold Quran Contests for Students

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic University plans to organize Quran competitions for its students.

 

Online registration for the contests will start soon, the university’s Center for Educational Development said, Sadaelomma website reported.

They will be organized in 16 categories separately for boy and girl students, the center announced.

The categories include memorization of the Quran at different levels, Tajweed recitation, and Ibtihal, according to the center.

There will also be a number of arts categories such as calligraphy and painting aimed at boosting the students’ creativity, it said.

The center added that winners will reactive a total cash prize of 260,000 Egyptian pounds and certificates of honor.

Each student can take part in maximum two categories, it went on to say.

The date of the contests has not been announced.
