Iraq Denounces Assassination of Iranian Physicist

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein condemned the assassination of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

 

In a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, he denounced the assassination and expressed condolences of the Iraqi government and nation as well as their sympathy with the Iranian people, the Iraqi foreign ministry said in a statement, Shafaq News reported.

The two top diplomat also discussed the latest developments in the region and international issues.

Also, Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi held a phone conversation with Zarif in which he offered condolences over the martyrdom of Fakhrizadeh and condemned any type of terrorism.

Fakhrizadeh, who headed the Iranian Defense Ministry’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND), was targeted on Friday in a multi-pronged attack involving at least one explosion and small fire by a number of assailants in Absard city of Damavand County, Tehran Province.

Iranian government officials and military commanders have hinted that the Israeli regime could have been behind the terror attack, vowing harsh revenge against all the criminals involved.
