TEHRAN (IQNA) – The organizers of Iran’s 37th International Quran Competition announced the names of the panel of judges’ members in the semifinal stage.

Iran Int’l Quran Competition Semifinals: Arbiters Announced


The semifinal round will be held online, starting on Tuesday and running until Thursday, January 21.

There are 16 Quran experts, 11 from Iran and five from other countries, in the panel of judges.

Sheikh Talal Mismar from Lebanon, Ali al-Khafaji from Iraq, Muhammad Ali from Indonesia, Sheikh Rizwan Darwish from Syria and al-Badri Omar from Sudan are the foreign members of the panel.

The Iranian Quran experts serving as arbiters will include Mohammad Reza Sotudenia, Mohammad Reza Shahidipour, Rahim Khaki, Mahmoud Lotfinia and Mehdi Hassani.

A total of 120 contenders from 70 countries will compete in the semifinals and fifty of them will make it to the final round.

Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization annually organizes the international Quranic event with the participation of Quran activists from various countries.

Qaris and Quran memorizers from over 80 countries took part in the 36th edition, held in Tehran in April 2019.
