20 Daesh Terrorists Killed in Iraq’s Kirkuk

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) said 20 members of the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group have been killed in the country’s Kirkuk Governorate.

It said in a statement that the terrorists were killed in a joint operation of the PMU and Iraqi army on Friday, Khabar website reported.

According to the statement, forces of the PMU’s 22^nd Brigade and the army’s helicopters took part in the operation in southern parts of Kirkuk.

Meantime, Iraq’s Joint Operations Command (JOC) spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Rasool said the country’s armed forces have launched various operations against Takfiri terrorists since September and inflicted heavy losses on them.

He said since then, at least 17 top ringleaders of Daesh have been killed in the operations.

On Thursday, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi said Iraqi forces managed to kill Abu Yasser al-Issawi in an “intelligence-led operation”.

Al-Issawi was a Daesh commander who claimed to be the leader of the terrorist group in Iraq.
