Mauritania Scholars Say Normalization with Israeli Is Haram
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Scholars and prayer leaders in Mauritania signed a statement in which they stressed that normalization of ties with the Zionist regime of Israel in any form is Haram (religiously forbidden).
It is Haram to normalize relations with such a usurper regime that has occupied Palestine and al-Quds, the statement, signed by 200 scholars read, Raialyoum website reported.
The statement was read out at a gathering of the scholars held at al-Tawqfiq Mosque in the African country’s capital of Nouakchott.
They said normalizing ties is tantamount to backing Israeli occupation and crimes.
The scholars called on Mauritania’s government to remain committed to its stance on not normalizing relations with the Tel Aviv regime.
Mauritania was once one of three Arab states that had diplomatic relations with Israel. It suspended the ties in January 2009 because of an Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.
