Keshavarzadeh wrote in a tweet that he was accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and a number of foreign ambassadors and diplomats based in Beijing.
“…After four hours of flight, we arrived in Urumqi, the capital of XUAR, a very beautiful and developed city with common cultural symbols of Iran and China that is a reminder of the glorious era of cultural exchange via the Silk Road,” he said in the tweet.
The ambassador added that he said the noon prayers at the city’s Aq Masjid Mosque.
He attached a number of photos of his trip to Urumqi.
Keshavarzadeh also met with the Muslims in the city during the visit.
