Quran Memorizers Honored in Egypt’s Alexandria

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A major Quran competition was held in Egypt’s Alexandria this week, sponsored by Al-Azhar Islamic Center.

 

The closing ceremony of the contest was organized on Thursday with the participation of residents of al-Nahdha and al-Amiriya neighborhoods of the city, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm website.

At the ceremony, 100 Quran memorizers of the two neighborhoods were honored for their Quranic achievements.

The governor of Alexandria and senior figures from A-Azhar were among those attending the closing ceremony.

In an address, the governor noted that the competition has been organized every year and it is the tenth edition.  

He also lauded the parents who encourage their children to learn the Quran and teach them Islamic values.

Alexandria is a Mediterranean port city in north of Egypt and the capital of Alexandria Governorate.
