Mohammad Ebdali Takallu, the festival’s executive secretary, told IQNA that some 12,000 members of the cultural and arts centers of mosques took part in the first stage in different categories of the event.

The provinces of Razavi Khorasan, Mazandaran, Isfahan, Tehran and Yazd have had the highest number of participants in the Quranic event, he noted.

The categories of the festival include Tarteel and Tahqiq recitation, imitation of prominent Qaris’ recitation, Quran memorization, Adhan (call to prayer), and prayers, the official said.

He added that following evaluation by the panel of judges, 87 of the participants have made it to the final round, which will open in Mashhad on Tuesday, October 19.

Ebdali Takallu underlined that the final round will be organized in full compliance with the health protocols.

At the closing ceremony, a number of the country’s Quranic figures and members of martyrs’ families will be honored, he went on to say.

Slated for Thursday, the closing ceremony will be officiated by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Ebdali Takallu said.
