TEHRAN (IQNA) – “Iran. From Cyrus the Great to the Ayatollah Khomeini” is the book which has been recently published by Sarda publishing house in Russia.

Written by Russian historian Alex Bertrand Gromov, the book points to the history of Iran from the time of Cyrus the Great (600-530 BC) to Ayatollah Khomeini (RA), founder of the Islamic Revolution. Gromov describes the creation of national institutions, such as postal service and monetary system, which were later adopted by the Eurasian civilization. He pays special attention to the events that caused the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and to Iran’s spiritual leader Ayatollah Khomeini.

A separate chapter of the book has been dedicated to the eight years of war imposed by Iraqi Ba’athist regime against Iran after the Revolution (known in Iran as Sacred Defense).

The book bears numerous illustrations and pictures which helps the reader better understand the history.

Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali has also written an introduction for the book which has been published with the support of Ibn Sina Islamic Culture Research Foundation.

The Russian historian had already written a book titled “Persia: The history of the undiscovered country” and is set to publish the third one on Iranian history named “Iran in the 20th century” which will give a comprehensive view of Iran’s contemporary history, especially the years of Islamic Revolution and Sacred Defense up until the start of Ayatollah Khamenei’s leadership.
