1,500 Mecca Grand Mosque Carpets Washed Weekly

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Operations to clean, sanitize and perfume carpets at the Grand Mosque in Mecca are under way around the clock.

Jaber al-Wadaani, director of the sanitation and carpet department at the Grand Mosque, said that the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has established a dedicated carpet cleaning center in Kudai with the latest high-tech tools and equipment.

He said 1,500 carpets are washed weekly in Kudai to maintain standards and ensure the safety of worshippers. 

The center has a team of specialists working to ensure the cleaning meets its standards and to confirm that the carpets are returned to the mosque free of flaws, the official added.

He said that the Grand Mosque also includes machines to clean carpets directly.
