TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 30th Juz (part) of the Quran in braille was published in Tunisia for the first time.

The Absar Society has published the braille copy to help the visually impaired, according to shmsfm website.

The country’s religious affairs ministry said the copy was printed after being assessed by a number of visually-impaired memorizers of the Quran.

The braille copies of the 30th Juz will be distributed in major mosques in cities across the country.

The ministry also plans to publish the entire Quran in braille in the future.

Braille is a writing system which enables the blind and partially-sighted people to read and write through touch.

It was invented by Louis Braille (1809-1852), who was blind and became a teacher of the blind.

In recent years, the Holy Quran and religious books have been printed in Braille to help visually-impaired Muslims read the texts with ease.
