Memorial Service Held in Qom for Senior Iranian Cleric
TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held in the holy city of Qom, central Iran, to commemorate Ayatollah Mohsen Mojtahed Shabestari.
The ceremony was organized at the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) on Friday night, after Maghrib and Isha prayers.
A large number of scholars and clerics, seminarians and members of the Assembly of Expert and people of Qom attended the commemoration.
It was addressed by Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, former secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
Ayatollah Mojtahed Shabestari was an Iranian cleric and politician. He was a member of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Assembly of Experts from the East Azerbaijan electorate.
He was also a member of the country’s Expediency Council.
The cleric died on Wednesday, November 17. His funeral was held in Qom earlier on Friday.
