Iran’s Nat’l Quran Contest Finals Slated for Monday

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final stage of the 44th edition of Iran’s national Quran competition will kick off in Tehran on Monday, an official said.

Mehdi Qarasheikhlu, head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, said this round will run for five days, adding that the women’s section is held in the morning and men will compete in the evening.

He noted that the previous rounds were organized in 140 cities and towns across the country and some 220 Quran memorizers and reciters have made it to the finals.

There are seven categories in the men’s section while women compete in five categories, the official stated.

He said the competition will be covered live by TV and radio channels.

He added that winners will be announced and awarded at the closing ceremony on Friday, December 24.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Qarasheikhlu said the national Quran competition has been organized annually since 1981.

He went on to say the Quranic event is aimed at identifying Quranic talents as well as the country’s Quranic capacities and also promoting Quranic activities among the people.
