TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 7th edition of an international festival featuring Itikaf will be held in Iran in February 2022.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Ali Reza Tekyei

This is according to Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Ali Reza Tekyei, the head of Iran’s Itikaf Headquarters, speaking in a meeting in the southern city of Yasuj.

He said that like precious years, the festival will be held in scholarly, literary and cultural fields.

The deadline for submitting papers to the secretariat of the festival is May 21, the cleric added.

He said the festival will conclude concurrent with the Itikaf ceremony of the month of Rajab next year.

The official also said that a strategic ten-year document on Itikaf is being drafted.

Itikaf, in the Islamic faith, is a particularly commended pious practice consisting of a period of retreat in a mosque, for a certain number of days in accordance with the believer's own wish.

Those taking part in the spiritual ritual sit in mosques and fast and pray the almighty God during the three days of Itikaf (usually on the 13th, 14th and 15th of the lunar Hijri month of Rajab).
