TEHRAN (IQNA) – A member of Yemeni Ansarullah movement’s political bureau called for strengthening national unity to counter foreign aggression and the contribution of all Yemenis to efforts aimed at liberating the country.

Mohammed al-Bukhaiti

Mohammed al-Bukhaiti said unity and national accord is the only path toward resolving the crisis in Yemen, Al-Mayadeen reported.

He called on Al-Ikhwan and Al-Islah parties to join other Yemenis to enhance national unity.

Bukhaiti said the enemies seek to prevent Yemeni sides from holding dialogue and resolving issues with foreign interference.

He noted that dialogue among Yemenis and their efforts to settle differences would not be in the interests of the enemies of Yemen.

His comments came as a two-month-long truce entered into effect in Yemen at 7 PM local time on Saturday.

According to the ceasefire, all military operations in the air, on the ground and in the sea must stop.

The Saudi-led military campaign, which has enjoyed unstinting arms, logistical, and political support on the part of the United States, has been seeking to reinstate Yemen’s former Riyadh- and Washington-friendly officials.

The offensive has stopped short of its goals while killing hundreds of thousands of Yemenis in the process and turning the entire Yemen into the scene of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.
