Hamid Majidimehr, the head of Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, told IQNA that registration for the contest will start some two weeks from now and run for a month.

He said the first stage will be held at the level of towns and cities in Tir and will continue for nearly a month before the start of the provincial stage.

According to the official, the semifinal round will be organized in a new way so as to ensure more fairness in determining the outcome of the competition.

One of the differences between this year’s event and those in previous years is that the competition in the categories of Adhan (call to prayer), prayer recitation and eulogy recitation will be held separately both in terms of time and venue, he stated.

Majidimehr went on to say that the northern city of Qazvin will host the contest in the above-said categories in December while the southwestern province of Khuzestan is slated to host the Quran memorization and recitation categories in January.

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s National Quran Competition is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.

It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.

The 44th edition of the contest was held in Tehran in December 2021.
